My aunt passed away this year (March 9th to be exact). I cannot begin to express influential she was in my development as a writer. It’s only fitting that the book be dedicated to her.

I sincerely hope that you guys are just as excited about this book as I am. The next few months will be busy, of course, but the process is always amazing.

Stay tuned for the official book cover!

If you haven’t read the first two books, When You Come to Me and Skin Like Dawn, be sure to catch up as soon as possible!

The Written Words that Leaders Live By

The Written Words that Leaders Live By

As a young adult whose mother had recently passed away, Etsy CFO Kristina Salen walked into a bookstore and spotted a volume on the display shelf. She settled on the floor and ended up reading the whole book in the store. By the time she left, she was a different person.

She was shivering now…

She was shivering now.  She absurdly convinced herself that she’d never felt like this.  That it wouldn’t go away. That something deep inside was propelling her toward a disastrous fate, a blind, ill-lit plight of her own device.

Still, she had the audacity to lean down to kiss her husband’s forehead, slowly, sensually, desperately.  She closed her eyes.  Tears brimmed them.  She felt lightheaded.  He stirred a little, murmured something, then rolled over.

He knew she was there.

She was in love, even then – but the inevitable was a bright-white infectious light, a great big wave of lunacy, pulling her downward, slicing through the undertow.

She raised herself from the bed and got dressed quickly.

She crept out of the bedroom, and the moonlight cast shame against her.

The 5 Creepiest Foreign Versions of Disney Fairy Tales

The 5 Creepiest Foreign Versions of Disney Fairy Tales

When Disney turns an old fairy tale like “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” into a movie, you can probably guess that they water down and dress up the original story to make it more friendly to modern audiences. What you may not realize is that stories like “Snow White” and “Beauty and the Beast” are actually ancient tales that have traveled across cultures and languages like a game of telephone. Or that along the way, the tellers put their own little twists on the tale.

Their insane, gut-wrenching, nightmarish twists.

10 Beautiful Ways to Decorate with Books

10 Beautiful Ways to Decorate with Books

Did you know that having books in your home is the key predictor of your child’s academic success?

It’s not even reading to them, not fighting the other parents to get your little precious into the Ivy-league tracked preschool, just having lots of books. Books matter more than if the parents attended college. Don’t blame the messenger; I’m really only talking about decorating with books today. I just wanted to poke some fun at all the helicopter parents out there worried about the precious child not succeeding in life if he doesn’t go on an archaeological dig and speak Mandarin before the age of 3. Heh. Here’s the study link.

You still with me? Good. Now let’s talk decorating with books.

How about going out into the garage, down into the basement, or up into your attic and grab a dusty box of books? Those books that have been long ignored but you just can’t bear to give away? Spend a bit of time reintroducing them to your life and strewing them about your home:  stack some on your coffee table, elevate a vase by putting a couple underneath, display a few in an unexpected place.

Pour some tea, grab a great book and pat yourself on the back.

Oh, what’s that? Need some design inspiration? So glad you asked…here you go!
